Not often do you find a well established church going through the process of re-branding and re-naming.
Our Church is ![]()
How cool is that?
A number of years ago we recognized the importance of brand and developed our logo, tagline, vision, mission, etc.
Three months ago our church took it even further, a creative team was put together and process was started in developing a brand and a new name. I do not know about you, but I think that that shows guts. Not many will do it because of the push backs and possible resentments from the core group of members. That and everyone has their own idea what the name and brand should be. So kudos to the leadership team for sticking to their guns and driving forward.
Here is the promo we put together 3 months ago that kicked the process off:
Here is a teaser I did for today, because maybe just maybe – we will release the new name next week:
This is one major step for our church, has your church done something major recently?

Actually my church just finished going through this process about 10 months ago. It was probably for the best, though we did have few people who somehow felt that we were going to lose our doctrinal integrity by dropping Baptist from the name. The church leadership held their course and so far it seems as though everyone is adapting well, though every so often the old name slips out…..
It’s interesting that I found this (via Google reader) and seeing yours and Daniel’s comments. I just recently wrote a blog entry regarding this very issue and what a church name means with regard to growth. You can read it here:

Good videos Phil. My wife and I had a good laugh watching the promo.
Yeah, the old name is going to be hard to drop, but I think over time that will change. Not saying that history should be forgotten, but for us we have come a long way and while the old name tells us where we came from; it does not say where we are.
thanks man, will check out your post and suggest it to the team I am on for the renaming
