Video Editor for Linux

OpenShot Video Editor

OpenShot Video Editor

I have tried one or two video editors on linux before, there was one on Ubuntu that comes to mind – just not sure of the name. It was forgetful. However this one seems interesting and useful for linux users wanting to do a little bit of post production.  Some interesting things to note is the compositing component and the fact that it uses Blender behind the scenes for 3D work.
Here is what the creator of OpenShotVideo has to say:

“I have a simple mission: To create an open-source, non-linear video editor for Linux. Many have tried and fallen before me, but for some reason I feel compelled to try myself. I am documenting my journey in this blog for all to read. It will be a dangerous journey, and I might not make it back alive. Hold on tight, and enjoy the ride! By the way, I’m calling this project OpenShot Video Editor!”

Check out the features from openshotvideo (and a video at the bottom):

OpenShot provides extensive editing and compositing features, and has been designed as a practical tool for working with high-definition video including HDV and AVCHD.
