Last night, in the shower singing So lo Mia, I thought of something. Ok, that’s half a lie – I don’t sing in the shower, people will complain. I thought that; “Isn’t amazing that there is always soap”. You see we forgot to get soap at the shops but if I dig around there is always a bar of those gift soap things or a shower gel received from some Christmas long gone.
Ok, you ask – Like, Phill, where on God’s good earth are you going with this?
Well, don’t you find that there is always a way. There is always a solution to the problem. It may not be the best, or the right, the fastest or the most elegant. The solution may be realizing that there was no problem in the first place or that the problem should not be solved.
I see this when I am locked out of my house. Yes, I have locked the door and left the keys inside. There is always a way in.
I have seen this when I am editing. And definitely when programming.
It’s about focus. But I have to say that sometimes I have had to walk away, leave it alone, and then when I come back the solution just presents itself (wish it was like that all the time).
