Win a Canon 60D

October 11, 2010 — 2 Comments

Canon 60D competition
When Canon first came out with their 60D I was onto Google with the search term “Win a Canon 60D” and I found one :)
What makes this one great is that it takes a bit of still photography creativity – not some major filmmaking expedition – so anyone can win.
Give it a go.
All you have to do is take a photo of your city (or suburb) that gives people a new, undiscovered, perspective and insight into your city.
If you know of any other Canon competitions or even accessory competitions, then please share – there are some that will never be able to afford stuff like this.

[Update (thanks McClain):

An ‘Eligible Participant’ means a Citizen or Permanent Resident at least 18 years of age, living in South & South East Asia who submits a Qualifying Entry to CSPL during the Qualifying Period…

Get it made Competition

October 11, 2010 — 2 Comments

Get it made competition
I love Film competitions – wish I could enter them all.
What is needed is a team, or at least a filmmaking buddy to run with. Yeah. Then I could entry these types of competitions all the time.
:)
This one looks very cool – apart from the entrance fee (if you are not already a member)
How to Enter

The Grand Prize

A Financing and Co-Production Deal valued at US$250,000 to create a feature film of the winning Entry. The Grand Prize is payable in US$50,000 in cash and the funding of US$200,000 paid upon submission, review and acceptance by the Openfilm Advisory Board of the script, casting, budget and qualified production company for the winning entry. The Grand Prize is subject to the Entrant’s acceptance of the terms of the Financing and Co-Production Agreement mentioned herein. All federal, state, and local taxes, and customs fees, when applicable, are the sole responsibility of the winner, unless required to be withheld by applicable law

So, what are you waiting for?
In fact tell me if you enter, and I’ll vote for you in the Community Voting Phase.

Woot, I have entered my 1 minute short film to this Short Film Festival – here is their facebook page: the rly shrt flm fstvl. Well, it is not just my film. Credits go to the whole team; John Smith and John Werge who played their roles in Directing and filming as well. Extra credit to John Smith for handling the Tarantula and Katherine Werge for letting that huge thing crawl all over her. Gareth Richards for the Music and sound effects.
We had already entered this short film into the Skarlets competition where a RED Scarlet 8x fixed lens was the prize. We were excited that we had had a great entry that was doing well. However the RED Scarlet was delayed and the competition deadline extended a few times until the Competition website went down (the domain registration was not renewed).
One day I will win a RED Epic or Scarlet, until then I am entering every HDSLR competition I can find and saving for a Canon 550D.
