Well there was another attempted break in last night and four guys were caught thankfully. Would have been crap to lose our new subs and line arrays
they wern’t loading the line arrays in where they?
that makes me wonder about them knowing what they were stealing, it’s probably quite an assumption but it may be interesting to follow a lead down to the suppliers?
Man, that does suck. I remember the time something of mine was stolen. We were on an outreach to Botswana, and ministered as guests in the church of our host – a local pastor.
My phone was snatched right off the stage after our last dance routine. When we packed up later and it wasn’t found, the pastor found out, and pretty soon, the rest of the congregation.
You can imagine how pissed off the pastor was. He had gone to great lengths to arrange for our outreach, as we had gone to great lengths to prepare for it. I suppose it’s easy for South Africans to joke about it, but it was an incredibly serious matter for them.
As soon as I found out the phone was stolen, though, I decided that, no matter what came next, it wasn’t going to be at the expense of my conscience. I released the phone, and blessed the thief with it.
As it turned out, the phone was not recovered in the remaining days of our outreach. A few weeks later, though, the thief took the phone to a friend of his, to hide it there – the pastor was continuing the investigation in our absence. That friend decided to keep the phone to himself, and took it to a local hacker to have it wiped.
This hacker knew the youth pastor, and pretty soon the police came knocking on the door. I can’t even begin to imagine the ripple effect it had on the community. The thief was a newcomer to this church, and I imagine he learned a great deal from this.
Phone retrieved, the pastor and his wife drove all the way from southern Botswana to Pretoria to return it to me – fully intact and functioning.
God uses the strangest of ways to teach us, and absolutely nothing is beyond His sovereignity. All we can do is have an open mind, and keep our faith.
wow,
you have a good point there – that God can use this to teach us something.
Set your life more simple get the business loans and everything you want.
Can you believe it – The thief had already entered the church before the door was locked, took the stuff while people were inside and then forced the doors open to escape.
oh dear
sometimes you just have to laugh
sometimes
I guess in the end it is a great opportunity to trust God.
not easy
I think I need to give you a panic button when you have to go to the church at night again
only a pleasure
love to help
was there more to the list? Matt’s in-ears?
what was the value of the loss?
