Thinking about going DSLR with the 7D

Canon7D

I’ve been watching the DSLR world with some interest for some time now. Top of my list has been PhilipBloom and Zacuto. Their DSLR shootout has been quite eye opening to say the least. However, I have been held back for a number of reasons:

Time Lapse of Cape Town Stadium

stadium

Awesome Time Lapse of Cape Town and Cape Town Stadium. With the Soccer World Cup in less than a week things are really heating up. This is a cool video showing Cape Town and the development of it’s Stadium. I stay in one of the suburbs outside of Cape Town so this is of special interest to me as well.
Enjoy :)

FleetFlicks for Short Film Lovers and Filmmakers

FleetFlicks

I like what these guys are about. I like stories, not some – as they say – “crotch-punch and cat videos”; stories told creatively and effectively. I’ll have to put my lens where my mouth is and submit something as well.
Check them out at their website. They also make use of twitter and facebook.
Very Cool.

FleetFlicks is all about the short film. It is for film lovers and filmmakers.

GenArts Sapphire

GenArts-logo

This is by far the best prize I have ever won. Yeah, I won the GenArts Sapphire plugins for Shake just for watching the GenArts Reels (and filling in a small form). The prize is so great it even beat the 5 out of 6 numbers I got in the lotto over 5 years ago. However, besides the monetary value of of the prize there is the usability value; I will find great use for this both in my personal projects as well as the stuff I do for Church.
I did play around with the trial version a while back for a music video I did, unfortunately I can’t show that because of copyright restrictions. But I have already started messing around with the plugins, here is my first creative test :)

Volunteering: The Video Team

camera

Volunteering in Church is really awesome; it does not matter whether it is for something technical or something low key and temporary. You can do anything, well almost – e.g. parking lot guy, announcement person or the CGI lady. I volunteered for video :) and that was a few years ago.
I have enjoyed it so much that it has become my extreme hobby, woot. If I actually make a feature film, I will blame by church.

I know that I am only speaking from an insider’s perspective, but here are a few things that I believe are great about what I do:

Poll: What do you think of Christian Film

film-cross

Everyone has there own opinion on Christian Film; it has come a long way that is sure. There are some that would argue that we should not consider it as a genre and others say that we judge it separately because of it’s genre. Personally I like the way it has progressed, there is still some way to go, and it is sure to be hard because not many Producers/Production companies are keen to invest enough into it. Having said that; What do you think? Continue Reading…
