One Day to next Green Screen Shoot

Everything has been picked and we are ready to go. I have the Sony EX1 with me, thanks to Visual Impact from whom we hired the camera (Lights and Green Screen hired from Go-Kinetik), Blue Screen compliments of Stunt SA

Sony Ex1 on my desk

Notice how it sits safely on my copy of Compositing Visual Effects for Aspiring Artists – that friends is what you call an interesting thing, hmmm – finger on chin moment.

I have a few interesting links about the camera:

I had to download the Transfer Application and plugin for FCP: XDCAM XFER V2.7 XDCAM HD 422

Some reviews about the camera:

I was able to take some arbitrary footage and see how I can import it into FCP. My first issue was to change some of the default options on the camera. The camera is obviously different to my Panasonic AG-DVX100BE, but I found the manual to be very useful. I had to switch off the stabilizer, change to 1080p25 and set the mics to external. Funniest of all was that I could not find the LCD, ha ha ha, it was under the built in mic – silly me. One thing I thought was cool was the iris control – it is a whole ring instead of a little roller. The thing that immediately bothered me was the fact that it was not very hand-held friendly when holding to eye-level (shoulder) – you have to use 2 hands, and id u need to adjust something that requires you to remove the support of your left hand then the camera tilts left. Its not a problem if you use the top handle but you can’t the camera to eye level with that.

Any way here is something I took in low light conditions

This is the first time that I have had a chance to work with 1080p25 footage, I have used stuff from tutorials in a couple of books, but nothing compares to you own stuff. So I am amped about tomorrow – it is going to so cool. Just over 8 hours to go, ooooh yeah.

If you were able to read to this point, here is the treasure of my life, my son Stephen

  1. I don’t usually reply to posts but I will in this case. I’ve been experiencing this very same problem with a new WordPress installation of mine. I’ve spent weeks calibrating and getting it ready when all of a sudden… I cannot delete any content. It’s a workaround that, although isn’t perfect, does the trick so thanks! I really hope this problem gets solved properly asap.
