Anyway, here are my thoughts.
I use a MacBook Pro that already has an iSight but it is not HD and I have never been very impressed with it. So when I set the LifeCam over it with it’s nifty and pliable mount I was was not that sad. I must say that it has a nice mount.
I performed two short and simple tests using QuickTime. Compressing them with Apple’s Compressor using recommended Vimeo HD settings with quality set to High.
First Test
Quality: Native
Audio: MBP Internal Mic
SecondTest
Quality: High H.264
Audio: LifeCam Mic
Conclusions
It was very frustrating having to restart QuickTime when I needed to change the recording preferences, hmmm.
The Native setting shows up a nice big screen that gives you the warm fuzzy feeling that this is 720p. To me the Native setting was way better that H.264 which showed to be applying some form of softening to the image which I did not like at all.
There seemed to be a hum in the background when using the LifeCam’s microphone. Maybe if I was able to install the software then the noise reduction could have been applied but there was no Apple version of the applications. Personally I would rather use an external mic
Obviously with no zoom, focus, aperture, shutter, etc control this cannot be consider as a proper HD camera, not even HDV
However I am thinking of strapping this to the side of my head and filming. Ok I will have to have someone run behind me with the MBP – ha ha ha; that would look funny.

Put the MBP into a backpack? or get a shoulder harness tray table and carry it in front of you. It would still look funny, but IMO more workable than someone running behind you

If I have someone with a boom mic and another with the laptop I will look official.
All by myself I might look crazy
