Letters to the Next South African President

South Africa is gearing up for the elections in April this year; 22nd April I believe. For some it will be just another public holiday, for others it may feel like a waste of time, but for most I hope it will be an opportunity to be heard.

What is interesting this time around is that there is a break away party COPE (Congress of the People), interesting in that they will draw vote away from the other parties – particularly the ANC. At least there will be a greater chance for involvement from other parties after the election (no two thirds majority to the ANC), hmmm which does have the negative of more bureaucratic red tape.

Anyway, Politics is not the aim of this post.
What is of interest is that we are going to be putting together a video enhancement to a series that our church is doing called ‘Letters to the next President’ – based on the same series that NPCC did (that we are a strategic partner of). Obviously more relevant to the elections in South Africa.

We will be filming a press conference with our Pastor that this weekend to be used as a promotional video for the series. Which means a really interesting set to look like a South African style press conference in a formal setting. With shots of journalists asking questions.
We are still in the stage of setting up the questions/script.
Feel free to add what you would like to ask the Pastor concerning the series. Questions like:

  • What is the coffee like?
  • Will the sermons be shorter than normal? (got that one off the NPCC version, ha ha ha)
  • Is it true that we can wear jeans or shorts to Church?
  • Can I break dance during Worship? I hear the music rocks!

And if you really want – write your letter to next South African President and I’ll put it up on the site when we run with the series ;-)

Mr Pastor… there have often been many complaints regarding the “amens” grunts and’ mmmm” from people in the audience. Will you be outlawing these in the future?

Same question as Kathy posed but put in a much more creative way :)
Reporter: “Pastor Sir! What’s with all the Mooing?’
    Pastor: “I’m sorry! Mooing?”
Reporter: “Like the other day, you were closing off the meeting in prayer, and people all around were um.. Mooing, is the best I can come up with to describe it.”
