IndieGoGo is a great way to take your idea and actually get it going with the help of people looking to be a part of your project. This collaboration and or participation can take the form of spreading the word and obtaining referrals or (this is where the power lies) to contribute financially. IndieGoGo does not just provide a pay and forget mechanism it facilitates a kind of scaled reward system for the benefactor.
IndieGoGo is a collaborative way to fund ideas and fuel innovation
While I am not currently not participating in an IndieGoGo project (soon enough) there are a few that I would like to support. Not being able to afford the kind of financial support required (although $10/$25 options are). One such project comes to mind that I would like to highlight.
The Investigator
The Investigator is an action packed thriller following one mans night of terror. John, an investigative journalist obsessed with uncovering the secrets of the drug smuggling underworld, finally hits the last key puzzle piece of his case. When his wife and daughter are kidnapped, he must face up to his own darkest secrets and those of his loved ones and run an impossible race to save them at all costs.

I actually met Richard Lackey (the creator of this film), if just briefly, at a RED One Post Production meeting called IndieLAB, where he explained much of the RED One, it’s ground breaking technology and it’s impact on the filmmaking community. Besides that, I have been able to engage with Richard on twitter, fact book and the 8bit community. I mention that because this is no random supporting of a project for page hits or something, this is something I believe is worthwhile and trustworthy. So I recommend getting involved, $10, $25, whatever. Check it out here.

Great read. Thanks for the info!
