How many plugins do you use?

8,829 and counting …

that’s the number of  plugins currently available at wordpress.

Over the time of my blogging I have installed 81 plugins with 43 currently activated. This changes all the time as I experiment. Some are evident to the reader while some work in the background. How many do you use?

Here are the ones That I have active at the time of this post – straight from my plugins dashboard.

  • 404 SEO Plugin
    • Give yourself an SEO boost! Replaces 404 error with suggestions of related pages on the site. After installing, go here, and add <?custom404_print404message();?> to your 404 Template where you want the suggestions to appear.

    • Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use it.     I usually use between, 40-60 different plugins depending on the blog features.

    This is a great list. I think I’ll have to use a few of these, as I only have like 3-4 active right now. And I keep hearing about these plugins everywhere I go. Thanks.

    Wowser – I’ve got (I think without checking exactly) less than 25 on my prime time blog.

    I keep the numbers down because of concerns for speed of use for any reading and for reduction on server load, etc… do you not find that an issue?

    And if not who’s hosting your blog and how much you paying? Or if you’d rather not say price then what type of hosting plan you on … shared, VS, …?

    Don’t tell me you use all of them, Phillip:). That’s quite a lot, considering that plugins slow down the performance of a blog.
