Courageous uses RED One

Courageous

I remember the first Movie by Sherwood Pictures; Flywheel. It was filmed on a budget of only $20,000. There were a few lighting glitches in some two camera shots but it was very well done for a first time film by a church.
Sherwood Pictures has stepped up and improved with every movie since Flywheel. You may argue that the Christian story lines are too fabricated, predictable or too clean – but you can’t argue that these guys are pushing Christian forward and getting better all the time.
Their next film; Courageous, stands out for me because of the cameras that they are using; RED One Cameras. In FlyWheel they uses a Canon XL1s and some other camera that I could not identify. In Sherwood Picture’s last film; FireProof, a Panasonic AJ-HDC27H Varicam and a pair of Panasonic HVX 200 cameras for B-roll were used.

[UPDATE: I made a few errors in the previous paragraph. Fortunately PraisePictures was good enough to tell me; thanks guys,

They shot Flywheel on an XL1s with P+S Technic Adapter, and a Canon GL2 for some random shots. No other cameras were used. Also at no point in the film did they film with two cameras at once. Every time you see someone on camera it's the same camera shooting them as any shot they cut to, just a different lighting setup. Sometimes they shot the opposite angle weeks later.

I know that if I had the budget and a good story to film that I would motivate for RED cameras – in fact I would plan for the RED Epic. And depending on the budget – I would buy at least one :)
