Great Blogging Tips #31DBBB

31dbbb

I have joined up with Christian Web Trends for a great group blogging project. There are over 60 bloggers currently engaged in the project, so suffice to say it is very engaging. More information can be found over at Join Us and Become a Better Blogger in 31 Days . This is not the first time I have participated in this project, the first being when Darren Rowse started it before it was an ebook. Because of that I have been able to look back and gauge how far I have come. What a ride :) Continue Reading…

Glad to see that there are some interesting pie and bar charts for South Africa Twitter users :) . Also good to see what us South Africans are tweeting about. The report was put together by fuseware.net (Strategic Social Media Integration) and look quite complete; a couple of interesting things about it … Continue Reading…

31 Days to Build a Better Blog: The Elevator Pitch

Good Practices

It is always good practice to step away from what you are involved with, what you are wanting to succeed in, and make an objective evaluation of it.  Sometime we find ourselves too embroiled up in the things we try so hard to succeed at, that we cannot find time to improve upon it. I believe that is a practice from Andy Stanley’s 7 Practices of Effective Leadership – Take time to evaluate your work – and too celebrate your wins; something you’ll find hard to do when you are too busy working to work on it. So here is, what I believe, to be a great opportunity to work on it; on blogging. Christan Web Trends has begun a blogging project based on Darren Rowse’s (of problogger.net) 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. Continue Reading…

Top 10 Posts: April 2010

toprated

Top posts are a great way to see just what people are reading here on SynapticLight . So I’ll be starting with April 2010 and will post the previous months hot[slash]popular posts at the beginning of every month. It not only gives me a sense that I am heading in the right direction but also helps me to keep my readers up to date with what they find interesting. Agree? Disagree? What do you think? Blog Rank: Top 25 Filmmaking blogs

ultimate

blogRank collects data on thousands of your favorite blogs, evaluates them against common metrics and then ranks them using a unique formula.

I know what you’re saying: “it’s just another list”, but hey it’s a list that measures me against a group of blogs that that I respect – and I am not doing too badly. It also helps me to identify a few goals, for example: I would like to see my Alexa rank below 100,000. It’s just a number, but it’s a number that gives me incentive. Continue Reading…

Winner: 1000th Comment – Stuff Christians Like Book

Stuff Christians Like Book

And the Winner is ……….

My beautiful Wife

LOL.
Ok, I intent to keep my own copy and what is mine is hers, anyway. So while she is the official 1000th commenter, I think that I will give away a copy of Stuff Christians Like to a random commenter – hopefully someone in the USA so I don’t have to worry about International Shipping Fees ;)

I reached this goal last week and I reckon that this can be doubled in no time at all – a feat that I can take no credit for – the credit goes to you; the person who adds the comments.

Thanks

Top 6 People I Follow on Twitter

Things Change

Man – how things change. When I first put together the list of Top 20 People I Follow on Twitter – back in April 2009 – I was a bit naive and was a bit too quick to put names up of popular peeps. I was really only starting to appreciate twitter back then and still had a lot to learn. Ok, I am still learning, but from what I have learned and from my experience I need to amend this list – as well as focus it a bit. Also relationships change, especially when there is no cementing of them by means of genuine face to face contact.

Not about Points

Also this is not a popularity contest and I do not get points for who I follow. It is about where my interests lie; blogging, filmmaking and friends. Don’t be perturbed if you are not on the list; there will be another and it will be different.
So here is my current list: Continue Reading…
