The everything else container. Stuff that I mull about or family related. Fun stuff, photos, etc

Less than 100 days to go and all officials; government and not are pushing for more excitement.

  • Play soccer in the parks
  • Play it in the streets
  • Put soccer balls in shop windows
  • Spread the excitement

There seems to be a worry that we are not excited enough. Continue Reading…

This is how I feel

They should make virtual reality rooms where you could do this.
I’ld be first in line.
Especially of late.

Going Beyond the Win

February 19, 2010 — 4 Comments

Read this article about Shaun White’s Gold-Medal Victory Run:

Shaun White’s Coach Drops S-Bomb On NBC Olympics Prior To Shaun’s Awesome Gold-Medal Victory Run

There was need for it, but he did. And I think that it Shaun’s Victory run was more important than the one that got him the Gold Metal. In the end he will be remembered for going beyond the win, stomping it beyond the expected and blowing everyone away.
So the question is.
Do you stop when you have done what was expected of you? Or do you go beyond and make it awesome?
I vote for awesome.

Soul Aperture

Wikipedia defines Aperture as:

In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. More specifically, the aperture of an optical system is the opening that determines the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane.

In the physical world we need to close the Aperture or Iris so that we do not over exposure the sensor. We even have to squint our eyes to cut out the light that would otherwise hurt our eyes.

However, do we do this as well when the light of truth shines on us? Do we close ourselves to it, only letting in what will hurt us the least (if it would hurt us at all).

I am a Christian; a disciple of Jesus Christ, but I am forever closing down the Aperture of my Soul. Trying to manage the Light. I should  trust God. Continue Reading…

There is always gift soap

February 4, 2010 — 3 Comments

soap
Last night, in the shower singing So lo Mia, I thought of something. Ok, that’s half a lie – I don’t sing in the shower, people will complain. I thought that; “Isn’t amazing that there is always soap”. You see we forgot to get soap at the shops but if I dig around there is always a bar of those gift soap things or a shower gel received from some Christmas long gone. Continue Reading…

All the best, have a great new year. May 2010 be a year when dreams come true.

That your country’s soccer team does well in the World Cup here in South Africa. Actually I am hopping that Bafana Bafana (the South African team) make a single new year’s resolution that they keep above all else: To play with more intelligence and passion. Least they make not the first round.

I am not making any resolutions – none that I have already made during 2009. I already know that I should be fitter, slimmer and get outdoors more. I know that I want to make another short film. That I need to spend more time with God; to read the bible more, pray more. I know these things already.

Resolutions keep turning into passing fads. They get forgotten. And you’ll most likely feel incompetent from not being able to fulfill the unrealistic expectations you have set upon yourself.

What do you think?

Are you making any New Year resolutions for 2010?

Have a great Christmas!

Please take time to remember the real reason for Christmas.

That it represents the Birth of Jesus Christ – our Saviour.

That it is more of a time of Giving and Helping, not receiving, wanting or getting.

So that’s our Shout out to everyone from the Gibb Household.

Ashleigh, a High School going girl at our Church (Southpoint Church), has begun a very unique campaign.  In South Africa, our 5cents coin tends to gather about and get thrown into jars etc. You probably have the same sort of thing in your country. So why not bring all those coins together. All of us – as a community – can be involved in accumulating a massive amount of 5cent coins that would ultimately be used for a greater purpose. Check out Ashleigh’s 5 Cent Fund Site.

A Note from Ashleigh

Hi!

Currently, I am using this website to create awareness about my group. I am still in the young stages of beginning a fund and will hopefully get bigger and better as I go along. I am only collecting coins from family and friends at the moment.

If you have any 5c coins or just loose change lying around please contact me on my email address (shown on my homepage) or in person. I would appreciate any contributions of any amounts because giving small change can make a big change!!

Thanks!

  • Quentin.J.Tarantino: Been quite a while since he has tweeted but I guess that he was busy with the promotion of Inglourious Basterds and hopefully some other cool project.
  • Robert Rodriguez: No so active at the mo – most likely blowing stuff up.
  • Jon Favreau: Director of Iron Man and the awesome sequel to follow.
  • Richard Kelly: Director of the Box – reminds me of that Twilight Zone story
  • Stu Maschwitz: His Bio says it all – Filmmaking nerd. Extremely well versed in the technical aspects of filmmaking.
  • Philip Bloom: Big on the DSLR front with Canon’s 5DmarkII and 7D. And a whole more in filmmaking and training.
  • Jessi:”Trying to support indie filmmakers; already worked on set” what could be more cooler that that – Support for Independent Filmmakers
