Almost every Sunday we setup the video for Church. What do we setup, why and for who? Here I give a few snapshots with as little text as possible in describing what we have done and the motivation behind it. Bear in mind, while you read and see, that we still have a long way to go – and budget has a huge role to play (otherwise I would be describing setting up a few HD cameras, projectors and IMAG, but alas)
Our Church has been running with a blog for a short time where we get read about all the things happening. One particular thing that I am really excited about is Sundays@.
Sundays@ is a chance for you to take a peak into the lives of some of our volunteers as they do their part in being involved.

Those that go to Church every Sunday go for different reasons, some good and some bad. Yeah – bad, like they think they have to or it’s their duty or just to keep the spouse happy. To those that go because they love it; I salute you

Here is the conference that, if you are into all things media – visual, web, music, technology, will blow you away. This is the one that I will mourn missing.
The ECHO Conference will challenge and inspire the way you do ministry. ECHO will encompass all things media – visual, web, music, technology – and hopes to resound the truth of Christ through the power of media and technology.
If you can go there will be such fantastic people to mix with.
It will be a gathering place for church leaders to discover new and creative forms and uses of media. Engage in a community of creative believers seeking to change the world through the use of media and technology that communicates the truth of Christ.
I filmed and editing this promo for our Church (Stellenberg Community Church – soon to be renamed), in support and to promote the next series – Letters to the Next President. South African Elections occur on 22 April 2009 – so I reckon that this is pretty relevant. The script used was almost 100% based on the North Point Community Church promotion for the series of the same name.

Volunteering in Church is always an issue; it does not matter whether it is for something technical or something low key and temporary – there is always an uncertainty. Questions will always run trough your mind like:
All legitimate concerns.
But I say, “Don’t knock it before you try it”

I have been creating video elements for my church for 5 years now. I am not an expert – let me just throw that one out there – and I am learning all the time, which I am sure is the case for everyone in this industry.
Here are some things I have picked up on when it come to creating engaging content for Church…
Christmas 2007 we did a three part drama in support of a three part series called Simple. This was one of those great opportunities to get so many people involved from Make up to catering to lighting etc
We had come a long way from the first attempt but isn’t amazing that there are still so many lessons still to be learnt.
Our Church will be beginning the process of brainstorming a New Name, why? Well for one we have come a seriously long way from where we were when we started (that is another huge and amazing story), we have moved to a new venue and we feel that God has brought us to this very point where we need to take that next step.
Check out the great movie style poster for the event. We had a few of these printed and put up around the place, too bad there was not a huge A-Zero sized printed.
After we had come up with the idea it was decided that Morgan would direct and Dylan would edit, while I filmed and supervised the editing.
