As part of the 31 Days to Become a Better Blogger project that is currently running on Christian Web Trends, I am asking for feedback concerning my blog. While this is aimed at the 60 plus participants in the project it is not a close process. So please, let me know what you think.
Here are some guidelines in what to look out for when reviewing:
- Layout and Design
- Speed
- Functionality
- Engagement
In terms of look and feel; does the blog appeal to you, look professional and is well put together? Do you think that the colours and images have some form of consistency that contributes to a theme and does not look random or wishy washy? If you want to go into more detail here you could look at at header, main page, sidebar, and footer separately.
How long did it take for the page to load? Did it feel quick enough on your connection or hopelessly too long?
Do you find the links and widgets useful? For example the top and random posts, the facebook connect and search fields. Is there something that you’d like to see.
When you arrive here, do you feel inclined to comment or to dig deeper for other information. Is the content engaging in a way that will keep you longer on the blog? If not, can you recommend something that could help in that regard. How about the social bookmarking buttons; do they help you to share with others and hence extend the engagement beyond yourself?
You can really say anything you like, you are not bound by the above. However if there is on thing that I would like to see improved above all else it that of engagement. I would like to improve the blog in a way that sees more comments, longer visits, more sharing and more clicking on internal links.

I’m usually surfing blogs on my iPhone, so it’s hard for me to judge layout and design from such a small screen. Can I recommend that you install a plug-in or hack that will convert your blog for iPhone, BlackBerry and Android browsers? That’s my main feedback. You are very brave to open your space to constructive criticism. That’s awesome.
Haha. Once I submitted my comment, up came your WP Touch format. Maybe check the box that says “display format for first time visitors”.

strange that you did not see it the first time – I will take a look at the settings.
It might help to have a tagline in the header with a quip about your “elevator pitch”
The ads are not overwhelming. I like that they are neat, all the same size, and not “flashy”.
The top posts and links appear pretty far down on the side bar in my browser. I almost didn’t get to them.
Comment section is easy to use. I like that you have the auto-link thing going on.

thanks.
good note about the tagline.
Things are looking great. On your comment section I would see if there’s a way that you could block or maybe post the re-tweets and twitter mentions in another place. Also I agree with Richard that the top posts and such are pretty far down the side bar. If I hadn’t been looking for them, I’d probably never find them.
Other than that I love your overall layout, content and style. Not a huge film person personally, so most of what I’ve seen has gone way over my head, but it also seems very specific and targeted which is awesome.

thanks, I will definitely raise the top posts widget. I am a bit hesitant on removing the re-tweets and twitter mentions because that is the only way some people engage.
