YouTube Play : Finding the Best Creative Video

youtubeplay

YouTube Play has a nice creative video competition.
The question is: where is your submission?
Have you got a video that you think could be considered as seriously creative?
You have until the 31st of July; that a month and a half.
Only one submission per person.
The emphasis is on extreme creativity; so don’t think that something professional looking will get you in, that will help but it must be more than different.

Media Composer 5

Media Composer 5

Interesting the drive and determination that Avid is putting into their Non Linear Editing(NLE) Tool. Could not have been better planned, coming on the back of a few (misplaced?) doubts about Apple’s commitment to Final Cut Studio. One this is for sure, is that I (also a Final Cut Pro user) will be downloading the demo and trying it out. The new features and improvements look interesting, in particular – the three listed further on.

World Cup 2010 Music Videos

The official FIFA South Africa World Cup (SWC) 2010 Song is Waka Waka by Shakira feat Freshlyground. Great that Freshlyground is involved from a local point of view.

But I prefer Wavin Flag by K’NAAN. This has more soul to it, feels more South Africa. My opinion of course.

And the of course, this really cool song; Stand as one, that came out fairly quickly by a local artist; Martin PK , we all thought that FIFA would pay attention, but it seems that only international artists would be taken seriously. Pity, promoting local talent would have been a good thing. Still there are the concerts, well.

World Cup 2010: HD Cameras

sonyHDC1500

This Soccer World Cup certainly looks to be raising the bar in all areas of technology. As a South African, the 2010 World Cup is very exciting beyond just the support of the National Team; Bafana Bafana. Of the areas of technology that I am most interested in, the most amazing is the broadcast of High Definition. I am not 100% where South Africa would be in terms of the Infrastructure required – if we were not going to host the World Cup, but that is beside the point. We are, and it is happening now!!

Being a wannabe filmmaker, Post Production junkie and all round digital video camera nut, I have noticed that Sony has come come to the FIFA World Cup party with some cool cameras. Continue Reading…

Soccer World Cup 2010 South Africa on the Go

My South Africa

With the excitement of the 2010 Soccer World Cup peeking (and only a day to go), I was wondering what apps were out there that could be of great use to the many visitors to South Africa. I know that this is a bit of an exception to the norm, but hey, I am a South African and I am also caught up in all the excitement. And of course I am hoping that Bafana Bafana do very very. Anyway, here is a great iPhone app that is a wealth of information over and about the Soccer World Cup. Continue Reading…

Iron Man in the Backyard

These guys from IndyMogul are great. Their Backyard FX stuff is just perfect for independent filmmakers with almost no budget to speak of. I thought, in keeping with the Iron Man theme form the previous post, I would post this one episode of theirs that made me laugh.
It also made me think – stop making excuses of not enough people and not enough good ideas; just get up and do.

Iron Baby

This is awesome. Saw it over at Dorkman’s Blog and I just had to post it here. It is so well done that it is inspirational. Did these guys do this in their spare time or was it for official promotion – I guess that that can be one and the same thing.
