Here’s a great contest, be sure to check it out. You are given everything, all you have to bring is effort and creativity.
If you do not know what Ask a Ninja is about – be sure to click on the link earlier on in this sentence. Some funny stuff there, and something interesting happening on 4th Oct 2010.
I will give it a try, although I may struggle working with ProRes4444 footage originating from the RED One – and over USB (don’t ask).
Here is your mission – if you choose to accept it …

Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to key the Ninja and edit your own version of the open to the music. Be careful! These files are big. Like the Ninja, we’re not pulling any punches here. We shot the footage on a Red Camera and converted it to Apple ProRes 4444. This means you have “Film Quality” clips of the Ninja to build your new open. Don’t know where to start? Check out the tutorials below to see how you can use Conduit, dvMatte or even iMovie to key the Ninja. If you need them, download the Ninja Versions of dvMatte and Conduit Plug-ins… they are fully operation this week!

  1. Dude! This is awesome!

I haven’t watched “Ask A Ninja” in forever. You know you could always recompress the footage to something more manageable like ProRes422 or even XDCAM.

    Thanks for sharing.

    • good point, I will start the downloading today and give this thing a go :)
funny thing is I have worked with RED footage b4 on my MBP that was shot with a GreenScreen (OpenCut3 competition) seems that the MBP gets slower and slower as the years go by. lol
